Our Ingredient Philosophy
We created earthbones because we were shocked by the shear number of ingredients found in the leading brands like Greenies and DentaStix.
In developing earthbones, our goal was to create a dental bone that was as effective at cleaning teeth as it was healthy. We've banned the use of artificial ingredients of any kind, and we avoid recipes that require a laundry lists of stabilizers, preservatives or additives.
We source our ingredients from the best suppliers we can find, and each supplier is audited according to stringent SQF requirements. We try our best to source our ingredients locally, and never use anything originating in China.

Ingredient FAQ
1. Is Peppermint Oil safe for Dogs?
This is a great question. The brief answer is that the peppermint oil in Earthbones is not only safe for dogs, but leaves breath smelling fresh and clean :) You may have read that peppermint essential oil is unsafe for dogs from reputable sources such as the ASPCA. This is true for home oils because there is a risk of using too much. We do not recommend pet parents at home use peppermint oil on their own. However, when used in a professional kitchen setting, it is completely safe and approved by AAFCO and the FDA for use in dogs.
2. What about Chickpea, Pea Starch and DCM?
DCM relates to complete and balanced diets - the primary source of calories you feed your dog and not treats such as earthbones. For more information, please read the FDA's most recent announcement: here
3. What are in your natural flavors?
Our natural flavors are made from a blend of sunflower oil fats.
